AMUND SJØLIE SVEEN
NORDTING - The Northern Assembly
Barentsspektakel
24 February 2018 - 18:00
Kirkenes (NO)

The Northern Assembly held its third sitting during the Barents Spektakel 2017 and, since then, has expanded across the entire Barents region. In a euphoric mood, it was fervently decided that The Northern Assembly was to be registered as a political party. Since then, no less than twenty-five Northern Assemblies have been held, tonnes of t-shirts have been sold and gallons of vodka have been drunk.
Amund Sjølie Sveen is working with a wide range of expressions and medias which common ground mainly is the use of sound and the investigation of current political issues in the globalized world of market economy. With Liv Hanne Haugen, Erik Stifjell & guests

USHER SHORTLISTED FOR FEDORA - PRIZE FOR OPERA 2018

We are extremely proud to officially announce that Annelies Van Parys has the great honour to write a chamber opera for Staatsoper Unter den Linden (Berlin) and Folkoperan (Stockholm): USHER

The opera will be departing from the unfinished opera "La chute de la maison Usher" of Debussy. Gaea Schoeters did a wonderful job on the libretto, the stage direction is in the hands of Philippe Quesne and... there is more good news:
USHER is on the shortlist for the Fedora Prize

Bilitis revisited - Lore Binon (soprano) & Revue Blanche
18 February 2018 - 11:00
30CC - Wagehuys, Leuven (BE)

Woman takes centre stage in this concert: sometimes seductive and provocative, sometimes fighting for her place in society.
In 1897, the collection of erotic poetry entitled Chansons de Bilitis inspired Debussy to compose a cycle of songs for female voice and piano. Wim Henderickx has reinterpreted these songs for the Revue Blanche ensemble.
The refined sensuality of this music is complemented by Maurice Ravel’s explicit Chansons madécasses and pieces composed by Annelies Van Parys.

Haus der Kunst
Haus der Kunst, Munich (D)

until 3 June 2018

The exhibition presents an overview of Kiki Smith's artistic practice over the past three decades. Early works from the 1980s emerged in the wake of explosive changes in political, social and cultural conditions marked by the AIDS crisis, a fervent discourse on sexuality and gender, and feminist activism. However, since the early 1990s, Smith has become increasingly interested in alternative narratives, exploring history, myths, legends and tales, religious belief and the traditions of nonwestern cultures. "Procession" embraces this multiplicity and maps its development into the present day.
The exhibition is curated by Petra Giloy-Hirtz and organized by Haus der Kunst.
