SCENOGRAPHY FOR A DANCE-SOLO BY ARCO RENZ

Kunstencentrum Vooruit, Gent (B)

Arco Renz throws his body to create seemingly alien movements, yet part of our artistic and cultural background. EAST exposes and simultaneously shakes up the stereotyped portrayals of the differences between East and West. We are in another world, our body and soul engaged in a thrilling dialogue with the surrounding lights, the staging and the music played live. The performance evolves inside 'Spheres', an installation by Lawrence Malstaf.

Lecture - The Art of Listening

Muntpunt Brussels (B)

What does it mean to listen and how do we listen, those are the two questions we want to explore in The Art of Listening. To do so we invite musicologists, philosophers, artists, psychologists and neuroscientists, asking them to shed light into these muddy acoustic waters.

David Bowen - growth modeling device  (2009) This system uses lasers to scan an onion plant from one of three angles. As the plant is scanned a fuse deposition modeler in real-time creates a plastic model based on the information collected. The device repeats this process every twenty-four hours scanning from a different angle. After a new model is produced the system advances a conveyor approximately 17 inches so the cycle can repeat. The result is a series of plastic models illustrating the growth of the plant from three different angles.
