BOZAR ELECTRONIC ARTS FESTIVAL 201508.10.2015 - 18.10.2015
WYSIWYG? OR WHAT YOU SEE IS NOT WHAT YOU GET?!
Media Arts Exhibition
Digital or analog? New or old technologies? How does the medium affect the way reality is perceived and represented ? How do we want to perceive reality or how can we? Real and virtual reality, facts and fiction are today inseparable. There are unlimited possibilities for the creation of images. Within the context of art and technology we re-examine the essence of representation and perception, and this by means of creating immersive , interactive and kinetic works. The selected installations approach in different ways the relationships between registration and medium, projection and content, perception and interpretation.
Nuit Blanche 201503.10.2015 - 04.10.2015
Rue du Grand Hospice | Grootgodshuisstraat
With the video installation Listen To Me, the Brussels-based sound artist Stijn Demeulenaere reminds us that we do not just listen with our ears, but with our whole being. On every screen, a person is absorbed in listening to sound extracts that we cannot hear. It is left to the imagination to decode the subtle expressions of the filmed faces …
Transporter27.07.2015 - 21.07.2015
Sint-Baafsabdij, Gent (B)
Transporter 02008 is an installation consisting of two conveyors moving in the opposite direction and a mirror midway moving up and down. The audience chooses this time for a horizontal position and let themselves literally be carried away by the installation. Be prepared for a strange encounter with yourself.
Coupling Series15.06.2015 - 25.07.2015
New York (US)
In Coupling Series, Kok&Deiman tease out the graphical representation of nature found within common garden system models in order to create a playful and ambiguous playground. From perfected depictions of colorful mud to 3D models of growing plants to an absurdly abstract instruction video, the installation comments on utopian ideas of DIY, manipulability, knowledge visualization, and a misplaced sense of control.
INTERLUDES (WORLD PREMIERE)30.05.2015
Kamermuziekzaal, Concertgebouw Brugge
't Zand 34, 8000 Brugge (B)
Flow, my tears, say the lyrics. And flow they did! In its day, Dowland’s lute song - based on his own Lachrimae pavan - was so popular that it was more or less England’s melancholic anthem. Contemporaries and even the composer himself continuously reinterpreted its melody and characteristic bass line. Annelies Van Parys has used this framework for a new creation, which will be seen and heard in Bruges for the first time.

VORMIDABLE: Shrink & Conversations20.05.2015 - 25.10.2015
Vormidable - Museum Beelden aan Ze
Den Haag (NL)
Shrink 01995 - Two large, transparent plastic sheets and a device that gradually sucks the air out from between them leave the body (in this case the artist himself) vacuum-packed and vertically suspended. The transparent tube inserted between the two surfaces allows the person inside the installation to regulate the flow of air. As a result of the increasing pressure between the plastic sheets, the surface of the packed body gradually freezes into multiple micro-folds. For the duration of the performance the person inside moves slowly and changes positions, which vary from an almost embryonic position to one resembling a crucified body.
Conversations 02012 - A couple of vibrating chairs are slowly moving and turning randomly through the space. They seem to search and reject each other with soft humming sounds. When a visitor passes by or sits down, the chairs hesitate and then carefully try out different patterns. The patterns are not designed; it is a self-organizing system where new compositions and new behavior arises spontaneously through the duration of the installation.Read More
Micro Events13.05.2015 - 25.05.2015
Théâtre Les Salins
Micro Events is a series of cinematic experiences for one person at a time, each involving a table, a microscope and a small mechanical stage. These tiny worlds on a microscopic scale each have their own soundtrack accompanying visitors along a fragmentary path into the infinitely small, guiding them through a labyrinth of detailed descriptions, questions and unstable verifications.Download pdf
FIELD RECORDINGS - INTERACTIVE SOUND-INSTALLATION & PERFORMANCE02.05.2015
't Zand 34, 8000 Brugge (B)
The upheaval after the Great War in an interactive performance. Sound rises from the earth: rustling, murmuring… echoes of battle, but also voices and snatches of music. As visitors move through this installation, the sounds retreat. Wherever humans go, the music hushes to a murmur. This interactive sound installation, created by Anneleen de Causmaecker, Annelies Van Parys and Peter Verhelst, is brought to life by the live performance of Els Mondelaers and Isabelle Balsa. Cellist Arne Deforce plays the prelude.
