The site-specific work Glass Vibration Gaze (2023) transforms window panes into an installation that merges architecture and music. Electronically generated musical patterns are induced into the windows using audio transducers. Stethoscopes attached to the windows function as microscopic listening devices which allow visitors to eavesdrop on the sonic world inside the glass while observing the flow of city life outside. 

Aernoudt Jacobs is working primarily with the medium of sound. His work is both phenomenological and empirical. It has its origins in acoustic and technological research and investigates how sounds can trigger sonic processes that will affect the observer's scope of perception. His work focuses on a central question: how can one experience the complexity, richness, and stratification of their direct, daily environment? 

Glass Vibration Gaze is commissioned by Rewire in collaboration with iii, The Hague and Amare.

Soleil Noir is an invitation to contemplate a luminous phenomenon, a journey in the hyperspace between artificial light (digital) and natural light (a dying star).

Soleil Noir explores the perception of a fragment of time suspended in the life of a supernova at the moment of its final explosion, just before its extinction... The moment lasts an eternity; the long-awaited explosion never arrives. It is perceptible in the air, as marked by this this kind of floating moment that we feel before falling... Except that here, we will not hit the ground, there will be no dislocation, there will be nothing except this presence, at once impressive and disturbing, strangely vibrating in front of us and yet almost inert, revealed by the light. Unless it is the opposite, let it be this shape that engulfs lights; we are not far from a black hole.

By this suspension in the life of a supernova, Soleil Noir reveals the energy that must be burned to keep alive the datas that we accumulate during our life. Soleil Noir exacerbates the fragility of the world and the elements that compose it, about to break, even if they are imposing and seemingly immortal. It is a moment of precarious balance that expresses the ephemeral dimension of our lives, both digital and physical.

"Barthélemy Antoine-Lœff is a visual artist whose creations of optical and digital artworks, sometimes interactive, often immersive, express dreamlike worlds crossed by a contemplative and ecological relationship of nature and elements. The artist creates spaces for sharing his feelings about the "forces" of the world: dreams, energies, materials, technologies. Refusing to place himself in the field of the Kantian sublime, he positions himself at the place of wonder and infantile craze, as if to claim the part of the dream that we develop as a child and which remains forever our "desiring motor" throughout our life. At first glance, tele-present wind (2018) by David Bowen could be perceived as a plant-like oddity composed of 126 dried plant branches mounted on metal rods. This undulating symphony is actually orchestrated by the wind’s blow, the intensity of which is captured via anemometers located in Minnesota, USA. This reconstituted mini-forest, acting as the promise of a somewhat disturbing mechanical future, rises and sways in unison, giving the scene a strange aura: that of a still life yet very much alive. The sound of the moving metal rods, like leaves caressed by the breeze, reinforces the organic spirit of the installation. tele-present wind is in fact a shifted representation of fluid dynamics, the main subject here being the observation of the movement of wind.

“Using intersections between natural and mechanical systems, I produce unique relationships within my sculpture and installations. With robotics, custom software, sensors, tele-presence and data, I construct devices and situations that are set in motion to interface with the physical, virtual and natural world. The devices I construct often play both the roles of observer and creator, providing limited and mechanical perspectives of dynamic situations and living systems. These devices and situations create a dissonance that leads to an incalculable changeable situation resulting in unpredictable outcomes. Astronauts who were able to observe planet earth from outer space for the first time, all experienced a strong emotional reaction later called the overview effect. A euphoric feeling of oneness with the planet and all living beings as a collective biotope where my molecules are yours and vice versa and individuality seems an illusion.

The work of Lawrence Malstaf is situated on the borderline between the visual and the theatrical. He develops installation and performance art with a strong focus on movement, coincidence, order and chaos, and immersive sensorial rooms for individual visitors. He also creates larger mobile environments dealing with space and orientation, often using the visitor as a co-actor. His projects involve physics and technology as a point of departure or inspiration and as a means for activating installations.
