Navid Navab, born and raised in Tehran (IR), is a Montreal-based media alchemist, tabletop cosmologist, and antidisciplinary composer. Navab’s investigative artscience practice is based on engagement and collaboration with transductive structures of liveliness and forms of order that emerge out of excitable dynamics of matter. Interested in the poetics of schizophonia, gesture, and materiality, Navab has been composing multi-sensory experiences, entangling bodies, machines, and materialities both in-situ and in concert for the past decade, in ways that enable critical attunement to excitable matters-of-process. Navab’s artworks, which take on the form of gestural sound performances, artscience platforms, participatory investigative environments, and kinetic sculptures, circulate internationally.
His touring artscience platforms and academic research-creations serve as investigations in the construction of fresh modes of cultural knowledge that lead to a new collaborative ethos for playful sense-making with ecological indeterminacies.
